Not sure about the others.Īnyhow, I have been there, done that, trying to take the cheap way out to get on 10 meter phone as soon as I got my General upgrade.buy once, cry once, as they say. I am not familiar with any of the models you listed, but I do know Anytone seems to be regarded as a low-end brand.imported (to the USA), I thought, so I am not sure where the "export" term comes into play with that model. This is in the CB radio forum, yet you are looking for an affordable 10m amateur radio, correct? I want to be able to use repeaters if the opportunity/need arises and would like smooth easy tuning/scanning.ĭoes anyone have any opinions on these radios, especially if you've touched/used at least 2 of them? Options wise they all seem about the same, frequency about the same.

I am leaning towards the cre, but if I were pushed to say why, I'm not sure I could tell you. I have narrowed my choices down to a few, all about the same price. Since the 'export' seems to be driven more at cb than ham, I figured here was a good place to ask. Expensive for "ham quality" and then started to look at export radios some seem much better than the others, and while I know it's illegal to use them on cb bands, the appeal of being able to turn power down to legal limits & use one radio to save space seems like a good way to go.

I got my ham license the other day & started looking for 10 meter radios. Hi - I am working on a little space in our apartment for some radio - I have previously only used cb.

The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola). The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming.

Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate just purchase it.įor M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios.

Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood).

Bring the radio back out wit some of the gremlins taken away.To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software: Lincoln V3 channel change, new firmware as this is too old. BUT I think now also that CRE and Alinco should talk to QX and ask them for updates now.

Channel change loose etc and some other odds and ends made it ok, not specialīut I have seen a video now where the s-meter is tamed on SSB although seems still “active” on AM and some other improvements carried out by Konektor in Poland.Ībove is the link to the article and there is translation software available to read all the updates that is possible.Īnd above is the SSB receive and it seems far removed from anything at all that I got on either of the radios. Myself I never got on well with either as in my opinion the now old V3.1 software should have been changed to V6, errors cured with the lambada s-meter and some other niggles that I had. The CRE or Alinco, love or hate them they have sold well.
